Bloom Where You’re Planted

HOW OFTEN have you marvelled at the determination of a daffodil or crocus to push through the hostile earth and arrive with a flash of colour?

Spring inspires me to throw open the windows and catch the fresh air as it rushes in. I’ve already been clearing out cupboards and sweeping away cobwebs; if you’re listening carefully, the energy commands that we make a shift in how we live.

Following the dark nights of winter, a world without flowers would be like a work of fiction without words.

Can you imagine if most of the spring flowers just didn’t show up? What sort of reasons do you think they’d give?

I think their top ten would read something like this:

1.     The garden was already crowded with other snowdrops; there was no space for me.

2.     The timing was off; I’d prefer to be a crocus next year.

3.     I always wished I was a tulip [shrugs their shoots].

4.     I was afraid of what the daffodils might think or say about me.

5.     I was just too busy behind the scenes.

6.     What if nobody picks me?

7.     I didn’t feel good enough.

8.     Who am I to believe I can stand tall and live my life as a tulip?

9.     I was working on myself.

10.  I was waiting for guaranteed sunshine with light rain showers and a double rainbow.

Have you ever used any of the 10 excuses above in life or business (minus the floral references!)? In the past, I’ve used several to hit the brakes.

Sometimes I was too scared to take the next step, nervous that I’d be rejected, wasn’t willing to do what it took to get to where I wanted to go, and the best mind monkey of all? I convinced myself that I had lots of ‘blocks’ that I had to work through before I could get to my desired destination.

And do you know what happens when you spend an eternity focusing on a perceived problem? It gets bigger, stronger, bolder - and more intimidating.

What if you could just roll that massive mountain out of the way? What if you could go beyond those perceived limitations and see them for what they are - constructs of your thinking.

By not showing up you are denying the world the joy of who you are and what you represent; we need your radiant self to show up and shine. And the best part?

An entire carpet of snowdrops is beautiful, but pepper in a few tulips and daffs and you create magic.

If you’re ready to show up and shine this year (not next, now) then drop me a line.
