You believed in Santa, can you believe in yourself for five minutes?
REMEMBER when you were wide open to the world of possibilities and believed that Santa could fly through the sky on a sleigh laden with presents – and always knew where to deliver the exact gift that you wanted?
Do you recall how convinced you were that tiny elves with curled-toe shoes were busy in ‘the workshop’ supporting Santa and his reindeer to make their epic journey around the world?
Can you take your mind back to a time where you 100 per cent bought into the belief that you could hear sleigh bells in the night sky and the gentle thump thump thump of footprints on the snowy roof before Santa slid down the chimney and tiptoed around your living room with a stash of gifts?
As a young child many of you wholeheartedly believed that this was true, and perhaps even embellished the story with your own input.
Fast forward to – now. You likely don’t believe in Santa or flying reindeer, or that wonderful things with your name on them are going to cascade down your chimney, but, the real question is, do you believe in you and your own unique talents?
To what extent do you back yourself to win in life and business? Do you find it easy to support everyone else around you and be positive about their ambitions yet challenging to believe that you’re capable of the same great accomplishments?
Here are 7 signs that you don’t believe in yourself:
You shy away from getting visible or putting your work out there.
Your self-talk is negative or aggressive.
You are convinced that the good things in your life just came about through ‘luck’.
You undercharge or are underpaid.
The version of you that you present to the world is vastly different to how you are deep down.
You try to control everything (if you believe and trust in yourself, you’ll know that whatever happens, you’ll deal with it).
You second guess and trust other people’s opinions more than your own.
If you were able to believe in Santa Claus for 7-10 years, do you think (given all the evidence that you DO exist and that you can do amazing things), you could believe in yourself for at least the rest of today - or maybe just start with five minutes?
What would be different in your life, work or business if you decided to back yourself? Would you feel happier, more content, more confident? Would you accept and encourage new opportunities? Would you share more of your personality before trying to second guess how you might be received?
