How To Stop Being A Robot and Reclaim Your Passion

DID YOU KNOW that if you type my name into an internet search engine, you’ll likely find lots of information and images of a robot?

No joke.

Hanson Robotics is an artificial intelligence and robotics company that creates socially intelligent machines. Its headquarters are in Hong Kong. From what I can see it’s going to take me a while to compete for SEO rankings!

Wondering why I’m telling you this?

Because there have been times in my life where I’ve felt like, you guessed it, a robot. Times where I’ve existed on autopilot or where I’m just going through the motions; these have been some of the unhappiest moments of my life.

Perhaps you feel it too? The familiar sound of your alarm at 7am, getting dressed for work (assuming you’re not still in your jim-jams), covering the same old issues in your business meetings then enduring the daily grind (while secretly wishing for Friday).

Even when I left the confines of corporate and set up my own business in 2010 I still found myself numbing out through routine. Routine has its place (one of the reasons why some of the world’s most successful entrepreneurs only dress in white t-shirts!), but it’s also incredibly useful to make a change by creating and fire up new neural pathways in your brain.

When you change how you think and what you think about, you being to notice new possibilities and create opportunities to tap more deeply into your own potential.

What simple things could you do to change how you live and work in your biz right now?

I love to:

➡️ Work in my home office, in the garden or in the kitchen (depends on whether it’s face to face client work).

➡️ Write down a word or phrase for the key things that are taking up space in my mind (a brain dump).

➡️ Learn something new (one of my top values!).

➡️ Change my physiology; too long in one position = stuck thinking and low mood.

➡️ Spend time walking in the woods or go for a run (currently doing Couch to 5k).

➡️ Connect with new people.

➡️ Indulge in self-hypnosis.

➡️ Review client results and feedback.

➡️ Name out loud the thing that I am doing so that I become more aware of it!

➡️ Find new routes for journeys I make regularly (so I need to make conscious choices).

What could you do to shake up your business and reinvigorate your passion?

Although I know very little about artificial intelligence, I do have another thing in common with the company I mentioned; I also help bring robots to life (in this case it could be you!).

  • Are you stuck in a bit of a rut?

  • Know what you want but find it’s just out of reach (all the time)?

  • Want to get out of your own way and make a shift?
